An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 struck Bhutan on Monday, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) said in a statement. According to the NCS, the earthquake occurred at a shallow depth of 10 km, which increases the likelihood of aftershocks. In a post on X, the NCS said, "EQ of M: 4.2, On: 08/09/2025 11:15:51 IST, Lat: 26.89 N, Long: 91.71 E, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Bhutan."
