In Amritsar, former Chhattisgarh Chief Minister and Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel said that the government has scrapped the MNREGA scheme, which he called the world’s largest job guarantee program. He said the government has a problem with Mahatma Gandhi and with poor people. Baghel said MNREGA, started under Dr. Manmohan Singh and Sonia Gandhi, helped provide jobs and food to people. He added that because the scheme was shut down, Congress leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi have decided to start protests across different states.
