Politics has erupted over the deteriorating condition of roads in Bengaluru, which are riddled with potholes. The Chief Minister of Karnataka, Siddaramaiah, has set a one-month deadline for repairs. In response, the BJP has launched statewide protests, including blocking roads and filling potholes themselves, to highlight what they term as government inaction. The Deputy Chief Minister has countered these protests, alleging a conspiracy and suggesting the previous BJP government is to blame for the poor road quality. An opposition speaker stated, “The Congress government is not functioning, it has become dead, completely it is dead.” The current administration has also called for an audit of an alleged 8000 crore rupees in infrastructure funds, as citizens contend with flooded streets and foaming lakes in a city known as a tech hub.
