The Karnataka government is addressing the extensive pothole problem on Bengaluru’s roads following public pressure. Chief Minister Siddharam Iyer has called a key meeting at his residence at 6 pm, which will include four key ministries and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivkumar. This action comes after recent monsoon rains created large craters, causing incidents such as school buses getting stuck. According to Shivkumar, 7,000 potholes have been repaired, but over 5,000 still need to be fixed. He stated, "still there are over more than 5,000 portholes". The BBMP has a 15-day deadline to resolve the issue. The Deputy Chief Minister also accused the BJP of engaging in "unnecessary politics" on the matter.
