A 28-year-old bank cashier, Pooja Shree, has died by suicide in Bengaluru’s Sidedahalli area. The incident, which occurred on September 1st, is allegedly the result of sustained dowry harassment and her husband Nandeesh’s extramarital affair. Married for three years with a young daughter, Pooja Shree reportedly confronted her husband about his alleged illicit relationship. In response, he is said to have demanded dowry and quarrelled with her regularly. The harassment allegedly continued despite mediations. According to reports, when questioned about the affair, the husband said, "What have you given? Where is the dowry that you promised?" Before her death, she had informed her mother about the torture from her husband and in-laws. Following a complaint from her family, the Bagalgunte police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.
