A major political confrontation erupted in West Bengal after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided premises linked to I-PAC, a firm handling the Trinamool Congress’s election strategy. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led a protest march, and her party’s MPs demonstrated in Delhi, accusing the central agency of bias. The ED, in turn, accused the Chief Minister of obstructing their investigation. Amid the escalating tensions, West Bengal Governor C. V. Ananda Bose issued a stern warning, stating, ‘There is a dictum which is well known, how so high you think you are. The law is always above you’. The matter also reached the Calcutta High Court, which deferred the hearing due to chaos in the courtroom. The face-off between the TMC and the BJP is now seen as the central issue in the state’s pre-election battle.
