Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, along with BJP leaders including Sukanta Majumdar, Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal, and Home Minister Amit Shah’s delegation, met with the Election Commission to raise concerns about alleged violence and voter intimidation in West Bengal. The BJP claimed that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is threatening voters, alleging that she stated those voting for BJP would need to display placards outside their homes declaring they do not support the party. The delegation submitted six demands to the Election Commission, requesting appropriate action under the Model Code of Conduct and adequate security measures to protect voters. The Election Commission’s full bench assured the delegation that all necessary measures would be taken to ensure free and fair elections in the state. The BJP accused the Trinamool Congress of attempting to hijack democracy and deprive citizens of their voting rights.
