Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps claims to have struck and seriously damaged a US Air Force F-35 stealth fighter jet over central Iran in the early hours of March 19. Video footage shared by Tehran Times allegedly shows the aircraft taking a hit, with explosions visible and a smoke trail as the jet veers off course midair. The IRGC stated the jet’s fate remains unclear with a high possibility it may have crashed. This incident would mark the first time an F-35, the world’s most advanced fifth-generation stealth fighter costing over 100 million dollars, has been successfully targeted in combat operations. The development comes after claims by the US and Israel that Iran no longer had active air defence systems.
