In Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, 39 people have been arrested and 10 FIRs registered following a protest after Friday prayers. The protest, linked to ‘I love Mohammed’ posters, led to clashes between demonstrators and police. The police used a lathi charge to control the situation. Following the incident, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered that "strict action should be taken against all those who disturb the law and order of any city." In a significant development, Maulana Taukir Raza, who had called for the protest, has been detained by the police for questioning along with four associates. Authorities are using video footage to identify more individuals involved in the unlawful activities which took place across the Baradari, Subhash Nagar, and City Kotwali police station areas.
