In a strong diplomatic message, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal has condemned the ‘unremitting hostility’ against minorities in Bangladesh. Addressing a press briefing, Jaiswal highlighted the ‘gruesome killing’ of a Hindu youth in Mymensingh and demanded that the perpetrators be brought to justice. He revealed that over 2,900 incidents of violence, including killings, arson, and land grabs, have been documented by independent sources during the interim government’s tenure. Jaiswal asserted that these attacks ‘cannot be brushed aside as mere media exaggerations.’ The bulletin also features remarks from West Bengal Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, who warned of ‘self-protection’ measures, while opposition leaders drew parallels to domestic issues.
