The National Citizen Party (NCP) has alleged widespread result tampering and planned fraud in several Dhaka constituencies following the 13th National Election in Bangladesh. Speaking at an emergency press conference at Rupayan Tower, NCP Spokesperson and Central Election Management Committee Chairman Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan stated, ‘Psychological pressure and administrative manipulation were being used to overturn results.’ The allegations specifically target constituencies such as Dhaka-13, 15, 16, and 17, where top leaders of the Jamaat-led alliance were contesting. While the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has secured a landslide victory with over 200 seats, the NCP—often associated with the Gen Z student movement—claims that results were altered to prevent their success in the capital. Analysts suggest the NCP’s poor performance may stem from their participation in the interim government, which some voters viewed unfavourably. Despite the NCP’s claims, Jamaat-e-Islami leadership has publicly stated they accept the verdict and will serve as a constructive opposition.
