Badrinath Avalanche LIVE Updates: 50 Rescued, Army On The Spot | Ground Report From Chamoli
A total of 55 BRO construction workers were buried under the snow after an avalanche hit Uttarakhand’s Chamoli district. Out of the 55 workers, 50 have been rescued, and out of these rescued workers, four have unfortunately lost their lives, while one remains critical.
As the rescue operations in the Mana village of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand continue following an avalanche, the Indian Army has confirmed the death of four workers who had been rescued earlier. Among the 50 workers who have been rescued, 11 have been taken to the Army hospital in Jyotirmath. One of these individuals is in critical condition, while some are suffering from fractures and others have sustained minor injuries. Four BRO workers have succumbed; the vital signs of all the patients remain stable, and specialist doctors at the hospital are conducting the necessary examinations.
The Indian Army, SDRF and NDRF teams have been deployed since yesterday and are braving the extreme temperatures to continue the rescue operations and save the BRO workers trapped under the snow. Out of 55 workers who were buried after the avalanche, 50 have been rescued and attempts are being made to evacuate the remaining five workers.
An avalanche struck the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) camp situated between Mana and Badrinath early on Friday, around 5:30 to 6 am. The incident buried workers inside eight containers and a shed, as reported by the Army. Rain and snowfall hindered rescue operations on Friday, forcing a suspension of the efforts as night approached. However, with improved weather conditions on Saturday, helicopter assistance was integrated into the rescue mission.
