Germany’s defence minister has stated that the country will not participate militarily in securing the Strait of Hormuz, following a similar stance by Britain. Donald Trump had called on nations to form a coalition to keep the strait open, warning that failure to help secure it would not be good for NATO’s future. Despite this, multiple countries have indicated they are not interested in participating in military action, expressing concerns about war escalation and regional impact. UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has also ruled out British deployment in the region, stating he seeks a diplomatic solution instead. Japan, France and Germany have all declined to commit military forces for policing the Strait of Hormuz. Most NATO allies are favouring negotiations and diplomatic solutions rather than military intervention in the region.
