Battle lines have been drawn for the high stakes Vice Presidential election. NDA’s candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan has filed his nomination. Opposition’s pick, retired Supreme Court Justice B. Sudarshan Reddy, is set to file his candidature. Justice Sudarshan Reddy thanked the opposition for their backing and praised Rahul Gandhi. Rahul Gandhi called it a fight between attackers and defenders of the constitution and reiterated his support for Sudarshan Reddy. Sudarshan Reddy stated, ‘My job would be to defend and to protect the constitution.’ He also stated that the Office of the Vice President of India is a highly regarded constitutional position, not a political institution. The BRS has given a conditional offer to both sides, stating they will support whichever alliance provides urea to Telangana farmers first. The NDA candidate was described as very able, experienced, and knowledgeable.
