An avian influenza outbreak has affected five districts in Andhra Pradesh, including West Godavari, East Godavari, Elluru, NTR and Kurnool. Officials confirmed no cases in Nellore, last year’s epicentre. Rapid response teams are conducting surveillance and containment efforts. The outbreak has led to significant poultry industry losses, with 5.4 lakh chickens dead and 1.5 lakh culled. Telangana has banned poultry imports from Andhra Pradesh.
