In an exclusive interaction with India Today, Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Atul Londhe expressed grave concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Mumbai and Nagpur. Highlighting recent extortion threats against actors Ranveer Singh and Salman Khan, and an attack on filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s residence, Londhe termed these incidents a ‘complete failure of Devendra Fadnavis’ as the Home Minister. He questioned how Lawrence Bishnoi continues to operate criminal syndicates from within prison, suggesting that ‘somebody from the administration or political establishment must be there to support him’. Londhe criticised the Eknath Shinde-led government for being ‘short of ideas’ and focusing on ‘Hindu-Muslim debates’ instead of addressing unemployment, inflation, and public safety. He asserted that the opposition has vehemently raised these issues in every assembly session, yet the current establishment remains inactive. The Congress leader warned that the return of gang-war-era tactics threatens Mumbai’s status as India’s economic capital and growth engine, demanding immediate and stern government action against organized crime.
