A serious incident occurred in the Chief Justice of India’s courtroom this morning when a lawyer attempted to throw a shoe at CJI B.R. Gawai during the mentioning process. Security personnel immediately intervened and detained the lawyer. As he was being escorted out, the accused shouted, "India will not tolerate this insult of Sanatan Dhan." CJI Gawai remained calm throughout the incident and continued with the court proceedings, stating, "These things do not affect me." The event has raised concerns about security within the Supreme Court. The incident is being seen as a possible fallout from a recent hearing involving a Vishnu statue. Senior Advocate Indira Jai Singh commented on social media that the incident "appears to be a casteist attack on the Chief Justice of India and must be condemned." No disruption to the courtroom proceedings was reported.
