Several people were killed and more than 60 people were wounded on Thursday (February 27) when explosions rocked a rebel rally in the eastern city of Bukavu, hospital sources said, as victims described grenades being thrown into the crowd.
Crowds fled as explosions rang out at a mass rally held by rebel leader Corneille Nangaa, his first public appearance since his M23 rebel group seized control of Bukavu, eastern Congo’s second largest city, earlier this month.
