They are currently receiving around Rs 300 per month, with workers questioning whether anyone can run a household on such meagre earnings. Additionally, they are demanding Scheduled Tribe status. Tea garden workers influence 38 seats in Assam, making their demands politically significant ahead of polls scheduled for next week.
