Congress leader Rahul Gandhi addressed a rally in Karbi Anglong, Assam, where he announced five guarantees for the state ahead of the elections. While addressing the gathering, particularly women supporters, he said ‘I love you too, all of you,’ apparently responding to supporters who had shouted the same to him. Gandhi announced that the first guarantee is for women of Assam, promising unconditional monthly cash transfer directly into every woman’s bank account, along with 50,000 rupees to help them start a business. He stated these measures would be implemented after his party comes to power. Gandhi also promised justice for Zubeen Garg within 100 days of Congress forming the government. Additionally, he attacked Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, calling him the most corrupt chief minister in the country, and promised strictest action against him once Congress forms the government. The Congress party had recently launched its manifesto with major focus on financial assistance to women.
