Ashwini Vaishnaw’s Press Conference On Semiconductor Projects In Odisha, Punjab & Andhra Pradesh
Union Minister for Electronics and IT, Ashwini Vaishnaw, announced during a press conference in New Delhi that the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, approved four new semiconductor projects worth ₹4,594 crore under the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM). These projects, located in Odisha (two projects), Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh, aim to bolster India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem and reduce import dependence. The initiatives focus on compound semiconductors, advanced packaging, and chip fabrication, with applications in electric vehicles, defense, AI, and consumer electronics. The projects are expected to generate over 2,000 skilled jobs and contribute to a robust semiconductor ecosystem, with a total of 10 projects now approved under ISM across six states, amounting to ₹1.6 lakh crore in investments.
