Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced a new step to improve passenger comfort in Indian Railways. He said there have always been concerns about the cleanliness of blankets in trains. To solve this, a blanket cover system has been introduced on a trial basis in one train from Jaipur. If successful, it will be implemented across India.
He also said that small railway stations are being improved — with better platform height, signboards, and information systems. Already, 65 stations in Rajasthan have been upgraded with these facilities. More development is planned in the near future.
