The Orion spacecraft’s main parachutes have deployed during the Artemis II mission’s return to Earth. The system of 11 parachutes is now slowing the capsule from around 300 mph down to 20 mph for a safe splashdown in the Atlantic Ocean. This critical sequence follows the crew module’s separation from the service module after the lunar flyby.
