In a major breakthrough for Indian security forces, Nambala Keshav Rao alias Basavaraj—a top CPI (Maoist) commander with a ₹1.5 crore bounty—has been killed in Chhattisgarh’s Abujhmad region during Operation Kagar.
The encounter, which neutralized 27 Maoists, targeted senior members of the Central Committee, Politburo, and the Maad Division based on specific intelligence. The operation was led by DRG teams from Narayanpur, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Kondagaon, striking deep into Maoist territory. One DRG jawan was martyred, and a few others were injured but are now reported to be stable. AK-47s, explosives, and other modern arms were seized during the operation, which continues as forces comb the area for remaining insurgents. This marks one of the biggest anti-Maoist strikes in recent history, delivering a critical blow to Left-Wing Extremism in India.
