As the battle nears its one-month mark, the reaction may have dealt a blow to the U.S. proposal, but it also marked the beginning of some kind of negotiation between the two nations. Israel is committed to continuing its war against Iran and the militant organization Hezbollah in Lebanon, which Iran supports. The proposal from the United States was "delivered via a friendly regional intermediary." Pakistan, which has close links to both Iran and the United States, delivered the message to Iran, according to an earlier story from the Associated Press.
