Arnab Goswami Analyses How People Of PoK Have Decided To Reject Pakistan’s Occupation
At least 12 civilians have died as Pakistani security forces fired on protesters in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (POK), which is experiencing significant unrest. The protests began due to the government’s failure to address 38 key demands. They have expanded into a larger protest against military actions, bringing the region to a halt.
The unrest, examined closely by Editor in Chief Arnab Goswami, entered its third day on Thursday. Protesters clashed with the army in Dadyal as the government sent thousands of additional troops to control the situation. The violence has spread beyond Muzaffarabad to Rawalakot, Neelum Valley, and Kotli. The Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (AAC) has led the protests, causing normal life to stop in the troubled region.
Central to the protests is the call to eliminate 12 assembly seats in POK that are reserved for Kashmiri refugees living in Pakistan. Other demands include tax relief, subsidies for flour and electricity, and the completion of development projects.
