At the Tata Hackathon AI Summit 2026 held at Bharat Mandapam, rural entrepreneurs shared how artificial intelligence is revolutionising their small businesses. Anjali Prajapati, an artisan from ‘Anokha Dhaga’ in Mumbai, explained how the Tata AI Sakhi Immersion Program helped her enhance product designs and automate costing. She stated, ‘I have learnt that free of cost, we just have to focus on our production and AI will handle everything else.’ The program, a collaboration involving Tata Consultancy Services and the Tata Steel Foundation, trained over 1,500 women to use AI for marketing, design, and business communication in their native languages. Participants noted that AI significantly reduces the time spent on manual sampling and administrative tasks, allowing them to focus on production and profitability. The summit highlights India’s push to integrate grassroots communities into the global AI value chain, demonstrating that technology can be a powerful tool for livelihood enhancement and financial independence for women in rural sectors.
