ED heat is rising for the ‘deemed fraud’ industrialist, Anil Ambani.
Mr Ambani was questioned at the Enforcement Directorate today in New Delhi, after being summoned in connection with a Rs 17,000 crore fraud case.
According to sources, Mr. Ambani was not allowed to have a lawyer present with him during the questioning and the entire questioning session was to be recorded on camera.
The probe agency issued summons to the Reliance Group chairman on August 1 , which came days after the agency searched companies linked to Mr Ambani and recovered a number of documents and computer peripherals from multiple locations. His questioning today comes days after the agency issued a Look out circular against him, effectively barring him from leaving the country.
The probe agency has also written to multiple banks seeking details on the loans sanctioned to his companies, people familiar with the matter told NDTV Profit.
