The U.N. General Assembly has voted by a wide margin to grant new “rights and privileges” to Palestine. It has called on the Security Council to reconsider its request to become the 194th member of the UN. The 193-member world body approved the Arab and Palestinian sponsored resolution on May 10 by a vote of 143-9 with 25 abstentions. In a strong reaction to this, Israel’s Ambassador Gilad Erdan pulled out a small paper shredder and shredded a copy of the U.N. Charter.
