Home Minister Amit Shah has announced a target to make India Naxal-free by March 2026. This follows two encounters in Chhattisgarh where 22 Naxals were killed – 18 in Bijapur and 4 in Kanker. The government is adopting a zero-tolerance policy against Naxals who do not surrender. One Jawan was also killed in the Bijapur encounter.
