Home Minister Amit Shah addressed the Lok Sabha, providing a historical and operational overview of Naxalism in India from 1925 to 2026. Shah argued that left-wing extremism originates from an ideology opposing India’s parliamentary system rather than a lack of development. He traced the movement from the Bolshevik Revolution to the 1969 formation of the CPI-Marxist-Leninist, which pursued armed revolution. Shah highlighted the Narendra Modi government’s security successes, citing Operation Black Forest, Operation Octopus, and Operation Thunderstorm. According to the MP, Naxal-affected districts decreased from 126 in 2014 to two currently. He detailed the neutralization of Central Committee members and defended the government’s policy of force against violence while offering rehabilitation for those who surrender arms. Shah criticized the Congress party, alleging historical links between the National Advisory Council and Naxal sympathizers. He concluded by rejecting comparisons between Maoists and freedom fighters, emphasizing that constitutional democracy provides the sole framework for grievance redressal in modern India.
