Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Patna as Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced his resignation ahead of filing his Rajya Sabha nomination. Nitish Kumar confirmed there will be a new chief minister in Bihar, ending his over two-decade tenure in the state. He thanked the people of Bihar for their faith and support throughout his 60-year political career. After a meeting with Amit Shah at the Chief Minister’s residence, Nitish Kumar, along with BJP leaders Samrat Chaudhary and Nitin Naveen, left for the Bihar Vidhan Sabha to file nominations. Five NDA candidates, including Nitish Kumar, Nitin Naveen, Shivesh Raman, Upendra Kushwaha, and Ramnath Thakur, are set to file their Rajya Sabha nominations. The BJP, now the single largest party in Bihar with 202 NDA seats, is expected to name its own chief minister. Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary is reportedly the frontrunner for the post.
