An all-party meeting has begun in Parliament to discuss the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar are briefing opposition leaders on steps taken by the government in response. Prime Minister Modi had earlier promised strong action, stating ‘We will not let terror go unpunished’. The meeting comes after yesterday’s Cabinet Committee on Security meeting where major decisions were taken, including putting the Indus Water Treaty in abeyance. The meeting began with a moment of silence for the 28 victims. Pakistan’s defense minister and foreign minister have made provocative statements, with one minister praising the attackers as ‘freedom fighters’. Meanwhile, India has suspended the beating retreat ceremony at the Attari-Wagah border indefinitely.
