Akasa Air Imposes Fuel Surcharge Up To Rs 1,300 Amid West Asia Crisis Impact | India Today

Akasa Air has announced fuel surcharges on domestic and international flights, ranging from Rs 199 to Rs 1,300, citing escalating aviation turbine fuel prices linked to geopolitical tensions in West Asia. The airline joins Air India and Indigo in imposing additional charges as the regional conflict impacts global fuel markets. Air India was the first Indian carrier to implement the surcharge, starting with Rs 399 on domestic and SAARC flights, with additional charges on international routes. Indigo announced fuel surcharges ranging from Rs 425 to Rs 2,300. The West Asia conflict is causing a ripple effect across the Indian aviation sector, with jet fuel costs, a major component of airline operating expenses, rising sharply. The surcharges apply to both domestic and international routes as carriers respond to the increased operational costs.
