Air travel in India and abroad is likely to face disruptions this weekend as thousands of Airbus A320-family aircraft undergo a mandatory software update, prompting temporary groundings.
IndiGo, Air India and Air India Express are expected to face operational disruptions as they address a potential flight-control issue in their A320-family aircraft, with an estimated 400 planes likely to be affected in India. Airlines globally are working to complete the upgrades by early next week.
However, in an evening update, Air India said it completed the precautionary safety actions on the majority of its Airbus A320 fleet, with the remaining aircraft on track for completion within the advised timeline.
