In a concerning safety lapse reported by India Today’s Amit Bharadwaj, Air India has suspended officials after one of its A320 aircraft flew multiple times without a valid Airworthiness Review Certificate (ARC) in November 2025. The airline self-detected the breach through internal processes and immediately reported the matter to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). In a statement, the airline emphasized that ‘Air India remains unwavering in its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of operational integrity and safety.’ Bharadwaj reports that while the lapse is serious, the airline’s proactive disclosure to the regulator prevented the issue from being flagged later during routine DGCA audits. An internal investigation is currently underway to determine how the oversight occurred. The incident highlights the critical importance of the ARC for operational safety.
