AIADMK senior leader SP Velumani has criticised TVK leader Vijay for his handling of the Karur tragedy that claimed 41 lives. AIADMK questioned why Vijay did not visit the hospital and accused him of abandoning his party members. Velumani stated that while Vijay is his friend, as a leader he must prioritise saving people’s lives. In another development, AIADMK MP Arun Natarajan is contemplating filing a contempt of court petition against Tamil Nadu’s Department of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) for failing to register an FIR against Water Supply and Municipal Administration Minister K N Nehru in a cash for jobs scam case. The Madras High Court had directed DVAC to file an FIR six days ago, but no action has been taken. The Enforcement Directorate had submitted a 380-page dossier alleging involvement of the minister’s brothers and associates in the scam worth 880 crores.
