The AIADMK has released its manifesto for the Tamil Nadu elections, promising refrigerators for women with rice ration cards, a departure from the traditional kitchen items like mixies and grinders previously distributed. The party pledges 2,000 rupees monthly assistance for women and three LPG cylinders per year for ration card holders. It also promises 10 per cent reservation for government school students who clear NEET, addressing a contentious political issue. In a significant healthcare initiative, the manifesto includes IVF treatment under the Chief Minister’s health insurance scheme. Other key promises include an education loan waiver for students, a minimum support price for paddy fixed at 3,500 rupees per quintal, 25 lakh rupees compensation for fishermen deaths, formation of an anti-drug task force, a 30,000 rupees subsidy for one kilowatt solar panel installation, free Wi-Fi at tourist destinations, an international cricket stadium in Coimbatore, a crop loan waiver for farmers, and fast-tracking proposed metro projects across the state.
