CP Gurnani, Co-founder of AiROZ and former Tech Mahindra CEO, emphasized the necessity of ‘right guardrails’ to protect data, comparing AI governance to the essential brakes on an automobile. Umesh Sachdev, CEO of Unifor, cautioned against over-regulation that could stifle innovation, warning that India must not be ‘colonized’ by the US or China in the AI race. Saurabh Kumar Sahu of Accenture highlighted the importance of ‘human in the lead’ systems, citing a multilingual platform developed for citizen grievances. The panel explored how AI could solve uniquely Indian challenges, from clearing the 5-crore legal case backlog to accelerating Ayushman Bharat insurance claims and improving crop yields. The experts concluded that while sovereign AI is vital for national security, the focus must remain on output, transparency, and empowering the end consumer through informed consent.
