Union Home Minister Amit Shah, addressing the media following the tragic crash of Air India Flight AI171, said that several passengers are feared dead, and the entire nation is grieving alongside the families of those who lost their lives. He expressed condolences on behalf of the Central government, the Gujarat government, and PM Narendra Modi. Shah further said that within ten minutes of the crash, the Union Government was informed and immediately activated coordination between the Chief Minister, Home Department, and Civil Aviation authorities. "The Prime Minister personally called to oversee the situation, and both state and central agencies launched a joint search and rescue operation. Of the 230 passengers and 12 crew members on board, one survivor has been confirmed, whom I met personally," Shah said. He emphasised that the final death toll will be confirmed after identification and DNA testing of the recovered bodies. The Gujarat government swiftly mobilised all emergency services, while the Central Armed Police Forces were also contacted to assist in the rescue efforts.
