Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) on Friday officially declared actor-politician Vijay as its chief ministerial candidate for the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Speaking at a committee meeting, Vijay made it clear that the party would never ally with the BJP, “not publicly, not even behind closed doors.”
Vijay categorically rejected any possibility of joining hands with what he called “ideological enemies,” saying the BJP “may sow seeds of poison elsewhere, but not in Tamil Nadu.” He added, “You can’t oppose or humiliate Anna and Periyar and win in Tamil Nadu. TVK is not DMK or AIADMK to join hands with BJP.”
