India Today had previously exposed the actor enjoying privileges while in custody. The Supreme Court ordered Darshan’s immediate re-arrest, stating the High Court erred in law and granted bail without legal basis, calling it perverse and unwarranted. The court also took a serious view of the actor’s conduct and the jail authorities’ actions, warning against any special treatment. Justice Padwala stressed that "no man is above the law," emphasizing equality under the law. The Bengaluru police will now follow protocol to take Darshan into custody.
