The Supreme Court has ordered the West Bengal government not to take action against those peacefully protesting at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The SC has urged striking doctors to return to work and assured them that no adverse action will be taken against them.The Supreme Court has posted hearing of a suo motu case on September 5, and ordered re-sealing of status reports of the CBI, West Bengal state government.While pronouncing the order, the Supreme Court said, "The investigation is being conducted by CBI, Kolkata police is looking into the vandalism after the protest at the site…From the material produced before the court, the request for polygraph test has been submitted. Doctors at Delhi’s All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Thursday (August 22, 2024) announced that they were calling off their 11-day strike, to protest the rape and murder of a Kolkata doctor, following an appeal from the Supreme Court.
