Abbas Ansari, son of slain don Mukhtar Ansari, has been convicted in a 2022 hate speech case. The UP MP MLA court sentenced him to two years imprisonment and imposed a fine of 3000 rupees. His brother Masood Ansari was also convicted. The case relates to a speech made on March 3, 2022, where Abbas allegedly said ‘Hisab Kitab will be taken when the government will be formed’. Following the conviction, Abbas Ansari is set to lose his membership in the UP Assembly, where he represents the Mau Sadar seat for the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party.
