At Mahindra Drivers of Change 2026, Genelia Deshmukh, Actor, Producer & Entrepreneur, spoke about balancing motherhood with her ventures Mumbai Film Company and Imagine Foods. She said being a homemaker and mother is ‘sometimes the toughest job’ that gets no credit and no paycheck. Deshmukh revealed that motherhood taught her she was capable of much more, leading to the birth of her film company and food venture. She discussed producing Raja Shivaji, a biopic on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj directed by her husband Riteish Deshmukh, calling it an ambitious project a decade in the making. The film features Abhishek Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt and Vidya Balan. Deshmukh also shared how Imagine Foods began when her children questioned the distinction between loving a dog and eating chicken, prompting the family to adopt a vegetarian lifestyle. The venture now offers plant-based alternatives and high-protein vegetarian products, remaining self-funded while continuously expanding its product range.
