Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa has announced that there will be no two hour long jumma break on Friday for Muslim MLAs in Assam. So if youre a Muslim MLA in Assan, you will have to work for those two hours, like all other MLAs, and you cannot take a two hour special break anymore. The Muslim appeasement lobby is horrified. I don’t understand why. Should all Muslim MPs get a two hour break every Friday. Why just MLAs should the entire country’s Muslim community be given a two to three hour break every Friday. Since Rahul Gandhi and Owaisi believe in Muslim appeasement, maybe they should ask all private comoanies, from Infosys to HCL to even foreign venture capital and private equity companies, maybe even the CII should announce a quarter day break for all Muslim employees every Friday. Play divide and rule, divide Muslims from the rest of the Indian population by doing things like these, and compete through such appeasement for the Muslim vote. And in states like Assam, where the Muslim vote is significant, compete like crazy among each other to be seen to be giving special privileges for Muslims. I am glad Himanta is ending this divide and rule policy, that the British introduced in 1937. Its impractical. Should Muslim judges go off the roster and be unavailable for a few hours every Friday, should our forces be divided on similar lines, should our banks and even the stock exchanges tell Muslims to take a large part of the day off every Friday. Its wrong. Its impractical. Its divisive. And you should not think of Assam as too far away from where you may be tonight and say it doesn’t matter to me. Remember that what the British did in 1937 by treating Muslims specially and differently, some parties are trying to do today 87 years later. Today a large part of Assam is majority Muslim. Dhubri Barpeta Nowgong Goal[ara Morigaon, large parts of lower Assam close to Bangladesh have been totally run over by Bangladeshi Muslims. They don’t speak Assamese, and take over the land and threaten the locals. The change is so complete that these areas, culturally, linguistically, seem more like Bangladesh than Assam. Tell me if the same changes happen in Uttar Pradesh or Karnataka or Sikkim or Madhya Pradesh, what would you do? If Delhi’s demography completely changed over 40 years, what would you do. You see its easy to preach, its easy to race to keep Bangladeshi Muslims happy as long as they vote for you. Its not easy to say, our culture matters too, our religion matters too, our way of life matter too. That is what Himanta is doing. That’s why he is ending the quarter day break for Muslims in Assam every Friday. If you oppose him, then remember there is no end to appeasement once you decide to do it. Fighting appeasement takes courage and that is what Himanta is doing.
