After fiery debates in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha, the contentious Waqf (Amendment) Bill passed the Parliament test. However, opposition parties, who vehemently opposed the legislation divisive, arbitrary, and communally discriminating, were in no mood to eat the humble pie and have now moved the Supreme Court to challenge it.
Congress MP Mohammad Jawed and AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi were the ones moving separate petitions in the top court challenging the bill. The political war over the contentious legislation is far from dying down.
