Senior Congress leader Manish Tewari has emerged as a strong contender in the lone Lok Sabha seat of Chandigarh, which went to poll in the last phase of general elections today, the India Today-Axis My India exit poll predicted.
Manish Tewari, who is a sitting MP from Anandpur Sahib Lok Sabha seat of Punjab, is likely to defeat BJP candidate Sanjay Tandon, the survey claimed.
This year, there are 6,47,000 registered voters, comprising 3,35,000 males, 3,12,000 females, and 33 third-gender individuals. The voter turnout was approximately 62.8 per cent. Among the voters, 15,006 are first-time voters aged 18-19, and 4,799 are over 85 years old.
