9/11 Attack: Revisiting Trauma, Tears,, Anger, And Aftermath Of World’s Most Deadliest Attack In New York, United States
The day of September 11, 2001, considered the deadliest attack on humanity, shook the world to its core after 19 Al Qaeda terrorists successfully hijacked 4 commercial passenger jets in the United States causing deaths of 3,000 individuals. The twin towers of the World Trade Centre in New York City collapsed as a result of two plane crashes, meanwhile the third plane crashed into Pentagon, the headquarters of U.S Department of Defense. The fourth plane crashed in rural Pennsylvania after the crew and passengers attacked the terrorists on board, preventing the plan to hit the White House.
Under the leadership of Former US President George W. Bush as series of operations by US armed forces and intelligence services such as the FBI, and CIA to capture Osama Bin Laden, the mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks. This marked a pivotal shift in anti-terrorism efforts and brought the world’s attention to dismantle the leadership and operations of Al-Qaeda.
The 10-year manhunt ended with the initiation of Operation Neptune Spear, that kicked-off in the early morning hours of May 2. 2011. As part of this operation, Stealth Black Hawk helicopters take off from Afghanistan, carrying a group of 25 Navy SEALs. The choppers land on the compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan and locate Osama bin Laden on the third floor to shoot him in the head, creating a shockwave to the entire Islamist extremist network.
