A high-intensity explosion occurred in a vehicle near Gate Number 1 of the Lal Kila Metro Station in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk area on Monday evening. The powerful blast, reported around 7 PM, resulted in at least eight fatalities and numerous injuries. The explosion engulfed several nearby vehicles in flames and caused significant damage, shattering the window panes of adjacent buildings. A red alert has been declared across the national capital. Multiple agencies, including seven fire tenders, the Delhi Police’s Special Cell, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the National Security Guard (NSG), are at the scene. The area has been cordoned off as a multi-agency investigation is underway to determine the cause of the blast. The injured have been transported to LNJP Hospital for medical attention. This incident has prompted heightened security measures throughout Delhi.
